Definition: This is bestowed on young SMEs which have displayed great potential to become successful players in the local and international market place. They must SMEs registered within 6months and 2years. They are companies that are on the verge of a breakthrough and will become successful, when given the necessary financial support, guidance and nurturing. Selection Criteria: The Company must be able to present a unique, competitive and potential business strategy that was executed and/or successful. By Application or Nomination
This award is bestowed on businesses or SMEs with long standing recognizable service to society. The business must be registered and operational since its establishment and operating prior to the awards year. Selection Criteria: Nominees shall provide registration documents as proof of establishment and existence of their businesses and a business profile. Must provide any 3years best financials – Background checks will be performed. By Nomination, Invitation or Application
Definition: This award is bestowed on Media Houses that has contributed significantly to the promotion and development of SMEs in the country. Their contribution must be best reporting in nature to the SME community to help develop or improve their operations. Selection Criteria: Invitees must have played a prominent and proactive role in the promotion and development of SMEs, especially during their formative and growing stages, by providing solutions that enhance SMEs’ competitive edge and operational efficiency in the pursuit of growth and sustainability concurrently. Definition: This award is bestowed on brilliant research personalities who have devoted time and resources on research work to facilitate and improve SME and the SME Sector of Ghana.
Selection Criteria: The award recipient must have published at least one article on their research finding. They must support their application with a copy or copies of their publication(s). By Nomination, Invitation or Application.
Definition: This award is bestowed on SMEs in the Services Sector (Business Services) that provide outstanding service in the market place.
Selection Criteria: : Applicants must have exhibited excellent service delivery through positive and healthy use of resources and must have contributed to enhancing the economic & social life of the local communities in which they operate. They must show innovation, value addition, and digitalization & technology use. They must also exhibit greater export potentials, employment generation and sustainability. Definition:This award is bestowed SMEs who have move from manual operations to adopt digitalization and technology in their businesses to attain operational efficiency and compete proficiently in the market space.
Selection Criteria: : Applicants must have taken practical and aggressive initiatives towards the digitalization agenda and adoption of technology and as a result, reaping the benefits both operationally and financially. By Application and Nomination .
Definition: This award is bestowed SMEs with micro-operations that have successfully made the transition from being privately-owned companies to public-listed companies.
Selection Criteria: Contenders must be public-listed company for at least 3 years in Ghana and have continued to excel in their businesses. These companies reflect the achievements of their founders and serve as shining examples of entrepreneurship, perseverance, strategizing and sustenance. By Application or Nomination.
Definition:This award is bestowed on a woman entrepreneur who has founded or headed an SME and must have held her position for not less than 3 years prior to the awards.
Selection Criteria: : Nominees must own at least 51% shares in the business and must be the primary decision makers. By Application or Nomination

Definition:This award is bestowed on unique and exceptional entrepreneurs and leaders of the SME Sector. E.g. Founders, CEOs or Managing Directors.
Selection Criteria: : The award recipient must exhibit entrepreneurial spirit and must emanate from small and medium business. Their achievements must be impressive enough to inspire the aspirations of thousands of SME entrepreneurs who are looking for a role model to emulate. By Application or Nomination.
Definition: This award is bestowed on SMEs in the Industrial Sector (Manufacturing, Construction, Agro-Food Processing, Pharmaceuticals, Chemical & Material Textile/Garment & Footwear, Electronic/Electrical Equipment & Consumer goods, Energy & Utilities and Transport & Logistics) with micro-operations that make significant achievements in their industry over years.
Selection Criteria: Applicants must possess products with at least 50% local content and a major contributor to the company’s revenue. They must have contributed to enhancing the economic & social life of the local communities in which they operate. They must show innovation, value addition, and digitalization & technology use. They must also exhibit greater export potentials, employment generation and sustainability. By Nomination, Invitation or Application.
Definition:This award is bestowed on SMEs in the Agribusiness Sector. (Agriculture processing & value addition, Livestock Production, Crop Production, Aquaculture & Fisheries, Agriculture Inputs & Support Services, Logistics & Supply Chain, Agriculture Financing). Their operations should have made successful and significant achievements in their industry over years.
Selection Criteria: : Applicants must possess products with at least 70% local content and a major contributor to the company’s revenue. They must have contributed to enhancing the economic & social life of the local communities in which they operate. They must show innovation, value addition, and digitalization & technology use. They must also exhibit greater export potentials, employment generation and sustainability. By Nomination, Invitation or Application.
Definition:This award is bestowed on SMEs in the Trade Sector <.b>(Wholesale, Retail Import & Export, Textile & Apparel, Food & Beverage, Electronic & Consumer goods, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Commodities & Raw Materials) with micro operations that successfully makes significant achievement in the business.
Selection Criteria: : Applicants must possess products with at least 70% local content and a major contributor to the company’s revenue. They must have contributed to enhancing the economic & social life of the local communities in which they operate. They must show innovation, value addition, and digitalization & technology use. They must also exhibit greater export potentials, employment generation and sustainability. By Nomination, Invitation or Application.
Definition: This award is bestowed on SMEs that commercialize and produce outstanding made-in-Ghana products.
Selection Criteria: Applicants must possess products with at least 60% local content and a major contributor to the company’s revenue. By Application and Nomination.
Definition:This award is bestowed on SMEs that have successfully created a visible, strong and positive corporate image of their company.
Selection Criteria: : Applicants must have achieved a high degree and instant public brand recognition. Applicants must submit a full brand profile for review. By Application and Nomination.
Definition:This award is bestowed on SMEs that excel in overseas market penetration and derive the bulk of their revenue from exports.
Selection Criteria: : Applicants must have at least one or more of their products exported, and the revenue forming at least 60% of the company’s total revenue. By Application and Nomination.
Definition: This award is conferred on individuals whose contribution has impacted industry in a tremendous way and determine the course of events over several years within and beyond their industry. The impact of their action leaves footprints which become a benchmark and/or a legacy for generations.
Selection Criteria: The individual must provide a comprehensive profile. By Nomination, Invitation or Application.
Definition:This honour is conferred on an individual or organization recognized for their significant contributions to SMEs in areas of support technologies and advancement interventions. These may include facilitating processes through advocacy and technical writings (policy development), education, research and management, and other enabling structures that contribute to SMEs growth. These contributions may be wholly or partly performed as voluntary or non-voluntary. The deserving individual or organization must have contributed substantial skills and expertise or talent to improve SMEs health.
Selection Criteria: : The candidate may have performed excellently in the SME arena, Corporate Ghana, in their Personal endeavours and in local and or International engagements
• Nomination is open to the general Ghanaian public who may nominate a deserving individual(s) or organization(s) or by the organizers and stakeholders of the SME Ghana Awards who may write to invite individual(s) or organization(s) identified for their contribution and or achievement in the SME sector.
• Any three (3) five (5) or seven (7) voting members of the Jury may elect an eligible candidate by simple majority to receive the award for a particular year. By invitation or nomination only.
Definition:This award is bestowed on the crème-de-la-crème of listed SMEs or Businesses that excel in every aspect of their corporate performance. They must have participated in any category of the year’s SME Ghana Awards.
Selection Criteria: : Contenders must have performed extremely and equally well in all scoring criteria, e.g. Business growth rate, Health & Safety performance, Management philosophies, Products & Markets performance, operations, digitalization and technology application, Corporate Social Responsibility innovations, as well as financial performance. By Overall performance in the general awards and Judges discretion.
